King Luca was born Sah Muhamed Umaru was born on May 7, 2002.

Nicknamed “Wonderkid”, he hails from the North‑West Region of Cameroon, specifically from the Nso ethnic group. He studied nursing, balancing academics with a rising music career.

Known by his stage name King Luca, is a Cameroonian Afrosoul, Afrobeats, and Afrotrap singer and songwriter. Signed to Akumba Music in 2024, he has quickly risen to prominence in the Cameroonian music scene. 

King Luca is making his mark with his rooted traditional Afropop. Transitioning from a nursing to a signed recording artist, he is producing hits that celebrate cultural pride through his soulful vocals, genuine storytelling often in multilingual lyrics (English, French, Pidgin), that enrich emotional depth and widen their appeal.

Discovery: King Luca was discovered by Akumba Music after participating in an open verse challenge for fellow artist Elisha K’s song “Joana.” His impressive verse led the label to sign him in July 2024, on a seven-year contract.

Personal Life: He grew up in a multi-religious family, with his father’s side being Muslim and his mother’s Christian. Raised primarily by his father’s side in Nso, he has described his childhood as “intense Islam,” with his grandfather serving as the head Imam of the central mosque. This exposure to different perspectives has influenced his music.
