Papy was born in Ayos in the Centre region of Cameroon, where he attended primary school.
Papy le Jongleur, whose real name is Yayeh Zamboh, is an Anglophone originally from Bangulan, a village in the commune of Babessi, Ngo-Ketunjia department in the North-West region.

Artistic Roots: From music to comedy; before conquering the digital comedy scene, Papy le Jongleur actually started his career as a charmeur singer (crooner). However, as he transitioned into comedy, he made a conscious decision to separate his musical persona from his acting characters.To ensure audiences focused purely on his creative talent rather than his physical presentation, he chose to completely break away from the “clean-cut/bling-bling” image typical of musicians.

The Signature Look and Legacy of Papy le Jongleur is universally recognized by his stage outfit: an unchanging suit jacket and a poorly tied tie. He credits this signature dressing to the legendary Cameroonian comedy pioneer, Jean Miché Kankan. Papy adopted the simple, single-outfit strategy as a tribute to Kankan’s legendary humility and minimalism.

Despite a tough first year with zero financial return—where he openly admits he struggled to live—the team persisted. Today, their web series generates massive numbers across Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, allowing him to pay his key collaborators professional corporate-level salaries, a rarity in the local digital content ecosystem.
