Zubby Michael

Azubuike Michael Egwu, popularly known as Zubby Michael, is a Nigerian actor and film producer. He is well-known for his energetic and often tough roles in Nollywood movies. 

Early life and education: Zubby Michael was born on February 1, 1985, in Anambra State, Nigeria. He grew up and received his primary and secondary education in Adamawa State. He holds a degree in Mass Communication from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Career: Zubby Michael started acting at a young age in Yola. His first film appearance was in Missing Rib. He achieved a breakthrough in 2006 with a lead role in The Three Widows. In addition to acting and producing, he was appointed as the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Anambra State in 2019.

Zubby Michael has appeared in numerous films, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020), My Village People (2021), Brotherhood (2022), Shanty Town (2023), The Bride Price (2023), Ruthless (2024), When Love Strikes (2024), and Owambe Thieves (2025). 

Awards and recognition: Zubby Michael has received several awards, including Movie Icon of the Year and Nollywood Personality of the Year in 2018, and Best Celebrity Politician of the Year in 2020. A 2021 survey recognized him as Nollywood’s most popular actor.

Net Worth: Zubby Michael has an estimated net worth of $5 Million (₦7.36 billion). He is one of Nollywood’s most sought-after actors, commanding high fees for his roles in movies. Zubby Michael is also a film producer, owning “Zubby Michael Productions” (sometimes referred to as A1 movies), which produces and distributes films, earning a share of the profits.

His popularity and influence have led to lucrative endorsement deals with various brands in sectors like telecommunications, banking, and consumer goods.

Beyond acting and production, he has diversified into other business interests, including retail.

Personal Life: As of late 2025, Nigerian actor Zubby Michael is not married and he is single. He has been vocal in interviews about choosing to remain single to focus on his career, noting that the “drama” of marriage is something he prefers to avoid.
