Solomon Kimera, popularly known online as Dr Solo, is a Ugandan medical doctor, TikTok star, comedian and health educator. He has gained popularity for creating funny videos inspired by hospital experiences, everyday situations and the challenges healthcare professionals face. Early Life and Education

Solomon was born and raised in Kampala, Uganda, where he grew up in a humble but supportive family. In an interview with The Observer published in March 2025, he spoke about the difficulties his family experienced and acknowledged the support he received from his mother, Catherine Nakyeyune.

His education began at Edna Preschool in Kabowa before he attended Trinity Children Centre, Kasozi Junior School and Merryland High School for his secondary education.

He later joined Gulu University, where he studied medicine and surgery. His academic journey prepared him for a healthcare career while providing experiences that would eventually inspire many of his online videos.

How Solomon Kimera Became Famous on TikTok

Solomon began creating social media content during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. However, his breakthrough came in 2023, when he posted a humorous video inspired by a challenging interaction with a patient.

In the skit, he jokingly portrayed the frustration healthcare workers sometimes experience when patients reject several treatment options. The video reportedly attracted more than 300,000 views, encouraging him to continue making content.

He gradually expanded beyond medical jokes to cover relationships, friendships, public interactions and ordinary life experiences. As his audience grew, he invested in better production, working with people responsible for filming, sound and lighting.

By October 2026, third-party TikTok analytics platforms listed his account at approximately 2.9 million followers, although social media figures can change frequently.

Medical Career and Public Health Education

Solomon’s identity as a doctor remains central to his work. He has explained that he wants to develop both his medical profession and his career as a content creator.

His online platforms allow him to communicate health information in a more accessible way. Through humor and relatable examples, he discusses subjects such as malaria prevention, HIV awareness and healthy living.
