David Adedeji Adeleke who goes by the stage name Davido is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer who was born on the 21st of November 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

Education

Davido attended the British International School in Lagos before enrolling at Oakwood University in the U.S. and ultimately graduating with a music degree from Babcock University in Nigeria.

At age 16, Davido went to the U.S. to study business administration at Oakwood University in Alabama. However, he dropped out to pursue his passion for music. To fulfill a promise to his father, Davido enrolled at Babcock University in Nigeria in 2011. He graduated in July 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a Second Class Upper Division.

Career

The artist’s music genres are Afro pop, Afro beats, electro pop, pop. His artistic career started since in 2009. The artist won an award in 2012 The Headies after releasing Dami Duro. From 2013 to 2015, the artist released many hit singles then later on signed with Sony music.

His second studio album was released on his birthday in 2019. This same year the African magazin listed him as one of the top 100 most influential Africans.

In 2021, the artist made a public display where he asked all his friends to send him the sum of one million naira prior to his birthday celebration. He later on informed the public that following this declaration, he received the sum of two hundred million naiira and added fifty million to it and decided to donate the amount to orphanages in Nigeria. This act of his gained him so much admiration and respect across the world as no one could imagine that was what he was about to do with the money. Naturally, Davido is known for his kind and compromising nature which isn’t limited to people around him but to everyone who comes in contact with the artist. One of the reasons his fans love him much.

Personal Life

The artist is a father of several children and is married to longtime girlfriend Chioma Rowland who is mother to his twins. Davido unfortunately lost his son with Chioma after he jump into the house’s pool. The news was announced on the 31st of October 2022 by People’s Gazettes. Adeleke Jr. his first son was three years old. Following this mysterious events, the house workers were taken to the police station for questioning. Unfortunately it is still a mystery when it comes to what exactly happened that day. The internet went cold as all his friends and fans showed their support by sending their condolences to the parents.

In March 2023, Davido privately married Chioma shortly after the death of their son. This was followed by a public, lavish traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024 and a white wedding ceremony in Miami in August 2025, with celebrations attended by prominent figures from across Nigeria and beyond.
