Saddam Amushelelo

Saddam Amushelelo, whose full name is Michael Ndali Saddam Amushelelo, is a Namibian entrepreneur, social activist, political figure, and social media personality. He is known online as “The People’s General” and has attracted a large following through videos discussing workers’ rights, economic inequality, unemployment, and political issues.

His TikTok account, @michaelamushelelo, gives him a platform to communicate directly with the public and share his views on issues affecting ordinary Namibians.

Early Life and Background

Amushelelo grew up in Namibia and developed an entrepreneurial mindset at an early age. In an interview with New Era published in March 2021, he explained that he started small businesses while still in school.

During Grade 12, he operated a small shop selling items such as hot dogs, soft drinks, and mobile phone recharge vouchers. He also started a cleaning business in 2009.

In 2010, he took a job as an apprentice brewer at a beverage manufacturing company. After working there for approximately two years, he decided to pursue entrepreneurship full-time.

These early experiences helped shape his public identity as a businessman and someone interested in economic independence.

Career and Rise on TikTok

Amushelelo became widely known through his business activities and outspoken activism. He has advocated for better wages, improved working conditions, and greater economic opportunities for Namibians.

He has also been associated with the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) and has organised or supported campaigns addressing economic inequality.

Social media became an important part of his public communication. On TikTok, he shares commentary about politics, employment, government policies, and social justice.

According to Tokfluence, his TikTok account had approximately 306,600 followers in October 2026. His videos have attracted millions of views, demonstrating the reach of his online presence.

However, his career has also faced serious legal controversies. In August 2024, a Namibian court ordered the forfeiture of assets linked to a disputed investment scheme. The matter involved allegations concerning forex investments and investors’ money. These legal issues form part of the public record surrounding his business activities.
