Anabel Rose

Anabel Rose is a Ghanaian-Filipino singer, songwriter, and creative artist known for her unique blend of alternative pop, R&B, rock, Afrobeats, and other musical styles. Unlike artists who stick to one familiar sound, she enjoys experimenting with different genres and expressing herself through music that feels personal and unconventional. Her growing reputation has made her one of the interesting emerging voices in Ghana’s alternative music scene.

Early Life and Background

Anabel Rose was born on August 23, whose full name is Anabel Rose Kubabom, grew up in Accra, Ghana. She comes from a Ghanaian-Filipino background, with a Ghanaian father and a Filipino mother. Growing up between these two cultures influenced her identity and helped shape her appreciation for different musical traditions.

Her love for music started at a young age. She began singing at around eight years old, often performing karaoke with family and members of the Filipino community in Ghana. By the time she was ten, she had also started learning to play the guitar.

As she grew older, Anabel developed an interest in several genres, including classic rock, indie-folk, reggae, R&B, and Ghanaian Highlife. Rather than limiting herself to a particular style, she used these influences to develop a sound that reflects her personality and experiences.

Music Career and Rise to Recognition

Anabel Rose began developing her identity as a recording artist in 2018, when she joined the Black Girls Glow music residency in Accra. During the programme, she collaborated with other female musicians to write, record, and perform a collective album titled HERmony.

The experience helped her develop her songwriting skills and introduced her to a supportive creative community. She later became a member of 99PHACES, a Ghanaian music collective that encourages collaboration among independent artists.

In 2023, Anabel officially introduced herself as a solo recording artist with her debut single, “Love Me or Die.” The song showcased her expressive vocals and alternative pop style. She followed it with “Do Not Disturb” (DND), a track that combined pop and R&B with bossa nova, trap, and Highlife influences.

“Do Not Disturb” helped expand her audience and earned attention from music publications. Her song “Lungs” also gained recognition after appearing on H&M’s global Spotify playlist.

Something About a Rose and Major Achievements

In November 2024, Anabel released her debut EP, Something About a Rose. The six-track project explores themes of love, vulnerability, identity, and self-discovery. It also highlights her willingness to move between musical styles without losing her creative identity.

Her growing influence earned her two nominations at the 3Music Awards in 2024, including Emerging Woman of the Year and Alternative Song of the Year.

In 2025, she made her international festival debut at Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival, marking another important step in her career. She has also performed at events such as the Palmwine Music Festival and Manifestivities in Ghana.
