Rajah Caruth

Rajah Caruth is an American professional stock car racing driver who has quickly become one of the promising young names in NASCAR.

He has gained recognition for his determination, racing talent, and inspiring journey from virtual racing to competing on some of America’s biggest motor-sports stages. With his historic achievements and growing experience, Caruth is helping create new opportunities for the next generation of racing drivers.

Early Life and Family Background

Born Rajah Kirby Caruth on June 11, 2002 in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and Washington, D.C. He comes from a Caribbean family with roots in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. His parents, Roger and Samantha Caruth, supported his ambitions as he worked toward becoming a professional driver.

Caruth developed an interest in racing when he was young. After watching the animated movie Cars, he became fascinated with the idea of driving race cars. However, getting started in motor-sports was not easy because professional racing can be expensive.

Instead of giving up, he began developing his skills through racing simulators and the online platform iRacing. This experience allowed him to learn about racing lines, braking, overtaking, and competition before gaining opportunities to drive real cars.

Education and Racing Beginnings

Caruth attended the School Without Walls High School in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2020. He also pursued his passion for motor-sports through NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity development program, which helped him transition into real-world racing.

He made his competitive debut in Legends Cars in 2019 and gradually moved through the racing ranks. His progress eventually led him to NASCAR’s national series, where he competed against more experienced drivers.

Caruth later attended Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, earning a bachelor’s degree in motor-sports management in 2024. Balancing university studies with professional racing demonstrated his commitment to developing both his education and career.

NASCAR Career and Historic Victory

Caruth competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series before making a major breakthrough in March 2024. Driving for Spire Motorsports, he won the Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after starting from pole position.

The victory was particularly significant because he became only the third Black driver to win a race in one of NASCAR’s national series, joining Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.

In 2025, Caruth added another Truck Series victory at Nashville Superspeedway, further strengthening his reputation as a competitive driver.

For the 2026 season, he moved into the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, splitting his schedule between JR Motorsports and Jordan Anderson Racing. The opportunity represents another important step toward his long-term ambitions in stock car racing.

Career Milestones: Multiple national series race winner including Las Vegas in 2024 and Nashville in 2025 and multi-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Most Popular Driver.
