Nde Ndifonka professionally known as Wax Dey is a Cameroonian lawyer, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, music executive and social activist who was born on May 9, 1985 in Bamenda, Northwest Region of Cameroon.

Education: He attended Sacred Heart College Mankon in Bamenda, where he sang in the school choir and participated in music competitions. He later graduated with a law degree from the University of Buea. A testament to his legal acumen, he also passed the New York Bar Exams in 2024, despite being diagnosed with ADHD.

Known for his soulful voice and blend of African rhythms with contemporary R&B, he has built a significant following in Cameroon and across Africa. Wax Dey’s musical inspiration came from a VHS cassette his father brought home featuring artists like Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson.

Career achievements Music career: Wax Dey began his professional music career in 2008 with the release of his album African Soul. His debut solo album, 360 Degrees, was released in 2016 and featured collaborations with prominent African artists like Yemi Alade and Banky W. His music often addresses social and political issues relevant to Cameroon and Africa.

Entrepreneurship: Beyond music, Wax Dey is a successful entrepreneur. He owns Calabash Music a prominent Cameroonian record label and the owner of Calabash Furnished Apartments in Odza, Yaounde. He is the creator and host of the Cameroonian reality TV contest Number One Girl. He also launched a fashion brand called “Mr Arrogant” in 2022.

Social advocacy: As a social activist, he has used his platform to raise awareness about various issues, including human trafficking.
